juju’s Sustainable Ways Get Recognized by the City!
This city is greener than you’d think: Philadelphia was the first city in America to start offering a financial incentive for businesses to have sustainable, ecological practices! This is the first year that 25 eligible businesses will receive a tax credit up to $4,000.
“The City of Philadelphia is pleased to offer an innovative incentive that promotes the local clean economy and creates an attractive and supportive environment for sustainable business practices,” said Mayor Michael A. Nutter. “We value the work of sustainable businesses and hope this credit encourages the expansion of sustainable practices in Philadelphia.”
And, you guessed it, we applied and more than qualified for the credit! Not only is juju the first wholly organic and non-toxic hair salon in Philadelphia, but we’ve kept expanding our sustainable ways and supporting companies that likewise embody, promote and facilitate a healthier planet and green living.
Some of our eco practices that impressed the city are:
- our primary goal is to minimize environmental hazards common to the hair salon industry for both our workers and clients juju’s products and services do not contribute toxic chemicals to waste water
- juju donates goods and services to agencies like The Red Cross, The Clean Air Council, Friends of Wiccacoe Park, PAWS, Angel Greyhound Rescue, Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, Meredith Elementary School, and more
- we recycle our trash strictly and are part of Philadelphia Recycling Rewards Program
- we reuse: most of juju’s furniture, display items and furnishings were bought second hand, trash picked and/or are repurposed goods
- facilites are PECO wind powered
- all spa sheets, blankets and robes are made from 100% organic cotton and/or bamboo
- and much more!!
